Pretty Girl Cosmetics Product Review
Heart of Cheer was very blessed to participate in a product review for one of the leading makeup companies in the cheerleading and dance industry- Pretty Girl Cosmetics. This reputable company, owned by Colleen Dugan, provides high-quality performance enhancing makeup at a competitive price. Our cheerleaders were very excited for the opportunity to test out these products and see how they compare to similar products they have used in the past.
Cheyenne & Leslie’s Review
Cheyenne (cheerleader): My gym, Spirit Force All Stars, is very conservative and strives to achieve a natural look on the competition floor. From the information I gave Colleen about our program, she was able to select some amazing products that would suit our program’s unique needs. I was so excited to receive my makeup kit in the mail, which came complete with a cute bag and brush.
I tested the following products;
Black Felt Tip Eye Liner
Pink Panther Lipstick
Leslie (mom): Cheyenne has sensory process disorder and is very sensitive to anything touching her (and this includes makeup on her face). If the texture is weird or she doesn’t like the feel of it, then she can’t wear it and many times her skin breaks out in a rash. I was so nervous to put on the eye liner. This is something we usually skip for competition because it really bothers her. Much to my surprise, it was so effortless to put on and she didn’t even feel it go on. To apply the primer, I used one end of the brush that came with the kit. The primer goes on smoothly and it gives the perfect even base to apply the shimmer to. I then used the other end of the brush to apply the shimmer. The shimmer adhered to the primer well and made the application so simple! For a finishing touch, I applied the pink panther lipstick to her lips- which was the perfect shade for her pale complexion. The entire look was very natural, but polished and performance ready.
Her gym is very hot and humid and there is no air conditioning. Despite sweating heavily through practice, and even crying a bit after a minor spill, her makeup still looked professional and sharp when I picked her up. No smudges, no creases, no sign that she had spent the past two hours tumbling, stunting, jumping, dancing, and conditioning.
We give Pretty Girl Cosmetics a 10/10! Professional products, attentive and personable customer service, quick delivery, and high quality.
Jordyn & Pam's Review
Jordyn (cheerleader): My gym has a clean, simple look for us in the way of makeup. I am on the Youth team, so my eye makeup is a simple one-color all the way to the brow (silver) with a black eye-liner drawn into a cat-eye. We also wear a red lipstick. This allows our facials to be visible to the judges and the audience, without making us look over-done. With the information I gave Pretty Girl Cosmetics, I was given the following:
Mica Shimmers – color: Bling
Black Felt-Tip Eye Liner
Electric Red Lipstick
Pam (mom): Jordyn has some skin sensitivity, but nothing that has a considerable impact on the selection of makeup that is used. With Jordyn being 9, I do the majority of the makeup artistry. This makeup was so easily applied! The eye primer is the item I loved, with having the convenience of being able to use my finger or a brush, and the ability to apply it flawlessly and with full coverage. The eye shimmer was very striking, and made her eyes pop right away. Silver is what the gym chose for their athletes to wear, so "bling" is the color that was tested. It was highly visible, and had a wonderful shimmery quality to it without it being glitter. The eye shadow was a powder, and worked much like the Bare Essentials makeup line does. It went on smoothly and effortlessly. We also used the eye liner pen for the "cat eye" effect. It also went on so easily! It was dark with application, unlike the brand we had bought at the store and used last season! I didn't have to apply pressure to get it to darken, and the line was right were I had wanted it. The other item we used was the new "Electric Lipstick" in "electric red". It was stunning! It had a "shimmer" to it, did not appear "pasty" or "cheap", and was a great look on the lips. It went on smoothly and consistently without clumping in spots or causing it to get onto the teeth.
Jordyn wore this to one of her practices, which offered an ideal testing environment with the heat and motions of competition multiplied by 2 hours! Her gym is not air-conditioned at all, and the temperature was in the mid-eighties by the time practice started. The makeup stood up to the test, with no eye liner running or smudging, and the shadow remaining where it was placed! It looked just as stunning after practice as it had before! There were a couple of smudge spots due to being wiped and rubbed by a 9 year old, but otherwise it had the same stunning look that it had when it had been applied. The eye primer does a wonder of making the shade of shadow "pop" off of the skin, causing it to truly stand out and bring attention to the eyes! I was genuinely impressed with all of the make up! The ease of application, the striking appearance and the long-lasting quality of the items definitely lets me know that PGC is worth the price!!!
This mom gives the makeup a 10/10! Professional quality makeup, stand-up durability, and definitely cheer-worthy! The customer service is amazing (and having 20 years of retail experience, it is something I don't throw around lightly!), and they stand behind their product!
